Once doubling as a temporary mortuary for a local mining disaster, this spacious and comfortable multi-roomed main road pub has exposed granite walls and low ceilings, and a large separate eating area. The room also manages to house a pool table. Two real ales are usually available albeit from the Punch Taverns lists, but continuously changing to provide variety. The pub is family-friendly, and the garden has a children's play area. At least one sociable ghost - Lucy - is alleged to be in residence.
