Friendly and welcoming pub on the side of the hill in the Upper Dove valley. Knowledgeable landlord keeps beer in fine condition. Separate drinking areas in the main bar creates a cosy feel and there is a dining room and pool room on the lower level. Open Bank Holiday Mondays. May close early weekday evenings. Despite its very rural location, the village Ashbourne to Buxton bus service passes by. Camping available nearby, on request.
