Large two bar pub which was originally two buildings. August 2022 - the premises is now a Chinese restaurant and takeaway called Ocean City. No change of use application has been found on the East Suffolk Council website.

Historic Interest

At 34 Raglan Street, Robert Charles Jago owned/ran the pub in the 1890's & into the 1900's. Other sources indicate it was named Hearts of Oak in the 1890s - both the 1891 & 1901 census has Robert Charles Jago living at 61 Raglan St. In 1891 after the address it just indicates "Public House". In 1901 it indicates "Hearts of Oak tavern". Robert Charles Jago lost a couple of children who were buried at Lowestoft Cemetery. Their address at time of death was listed as the Hearts of Oak tavern on Raglan Street. Robert Charles Jago's father Thomas Blake Jago ran the Kings Arms. Photographs of this pub and more historical information about it can be found at suffolk.camra.org.uk/pub/672
