Former hotel dating from 1756 now a bar and restaurant. Although opened out it retains distinct areas most of which are set out for diners. Wooden beams abound. The drinkers area is adjacent to the bar and close to the main entrance. Outside there are a few tables at the front and many more on its riverside patio and beer garden to the rear. Food available all day every day until 10pm.

The Chef & Brewer was part of the Spirit group taken over by Greene King in 2015. Greene King IPA and its Greene King house beer "Ale Be Back" are now its regular ales. In the summer there are two other ales one of which can be local.

The Bridge sits at the end of the tow path beside the Cam North of Cambridge. There is also a made up path making it easily reachable from Waterbeach station.
