This riverside pub has been a licensed house since at least the mid-18th century, when it doubled as a coal wharf with passing barges taking coal upstream. The interior is one bar, nearly the whole length of the pub, with exposed beams and a tiled floor.

Good quality home-cooked meals are served and stone steaks are a speciality. The landlord was a butcher and the quality of the meat and fish are clear. There is a take-away service.

Outside, a patio overlooks the River Severn making it a lovely spot to while away a summer evening. The pub has its own moorings for customers and is on the Severn Way. The approach road is liable to flooding in the winter.

Wye Valley beer is usually available in the warmer months with other beers, such as Skinners, in the winter months.
