This old and historic pub (established in 1741) has been sympathetically restored and is popular among villagers and visitors. The bar is straight in front as you enter, with another barroom to the right, a restaurant area to the left, beyond the fireplace and a garden room to the rear.

Its five handpumps usually serve four ales and sometimes a cider.

It has occasional live music and holds its own Beer Festival in May each year.

Its car park separates the pub and the hotel.

Behind the car park (in a separate building that has housed both a pub and a brewery) there is now a village store.
