Although it is very slightly off the main thoroughfares of Notting Hill, this pub is well worth a visit and has a growing reputation for good beer. As well as two or three well-kept cask ales, there are plenty of keg beers and ciders on tap, many from independent breweries.
There is a tiny but fully-formed garden, invisible from the street, and two rooms for hire - the cellar is worth a look.
The food offering is quite small but includes bar snacks, pub favourites and Sunday roasts; the printed menu includes beer pairing recommendations.
There is a basement for the weekly quiz night and a blues club, and comedy nights. Music nights are ticketed, see venue website.
Also keep an eye on the website for the pub's annual beer festival Liquid Dreams, normally in February, which often showcases micro-breweries and small-batch producers. There can be up to 100 beers from 50 breweries, showcased on temporary bars in the pub’s basement, upstairs room and garden. Unlike some other beer festivals, tickets are not over-sold and it has been described as a hugely friendly and convivial event by those lucky enough to attend.
