An imposing and ornate Gothic building on the edge of the town centre, the Fleece was designed by G.G. Hoskins and opened in 1897. Totally refurbished in 2018 after a lengthy period of closure, it is now a boutique hotel with a table-service-only bistro/cafe bar and restaurant decorated in plain but attractive style. Close to the town's famous Georgian Theatre.
