Popular family-run village pub near the river Foss, offering four real ales, one real cider and restaurant food. Open all day and late at the weekend, it is popular with walkers, cyclists and caravanners in summer, with outside seating and a children's play area at the rear. Family and dog friendly. Regular events are held including music, quiz and annual Spring beer festival. Bus stop from York is just across the road. Although well known for its food the pub has a dedicated drinking area for people just wanting a quiet drink.
