Just yards from the A61, lies this somewhat hidden genuine free house, themed to suit its location by the closed branch of the Aire and Calder and with memorabilia of the original Oakwell brewery. The last cask of their famous Barnsley Bitter was consumed here in 1977. Lively men's and women's pool and darts are successfully represented in local leagues. After a new licensee took over in late 2025, real ale was restored and the kitchen was refitted (chef still being sought at time of writing)
