This pub closed in 2023 and reopened in late March 2024 as a community owned and run pub. This 17th century inn offers a warm welcome. There is a central bar serving three separate rooms.

Three changing ales from local breweries available, one is usually a dark beer.

A conservatory offers excellent views over the Wild Brooks - a birdwatchers paradise owned by RSPB. Binoculars are available to watch the wildlife. A popular watering hole for walkers and cyclists alike.

Community Owned & Run

The Community Sportsman Amberley Limited (a Community Benefit Society) campaigned to raise funds to buy the freehold of the pub. Whilst the society continued to raise funds to purchase the freehold, the society took out a tenancy lease so the pub, which reopened Easter 2024, could be run by community members. In September 2026 the society completed raising £750,000 to buy the freehold of the pub, after its former owner put the building up for sale (see BBC article).
