Getting to Sheffield

Travelling to Sheffield

Sheffield City Hall is 0.6 miles, about 15 minutes (uphill) walk from Sheffield Railway Station. If you wish to travel by tram, leave the station by the entrance above platform eight, turn right and take the blue tram (signed Malin Bridge) to the City Hall stop. This journey takes 8 minutes. A taxi will take up to 10 minutes.

National Express Coaches stop at the Interchange. This is 0.4 miles from City Hall.

Local Public transport Information

The Travelmaster range of all operator tickets (www.sytravelmaster.com) are appropriate for most CAMRA members visiting Sheffield for the weekend. The website provides up-to-date information so members can choose which ticket is best for them. All daily and weekly tickets can be purchased from bus drivers and tram conductors or alternatively on the appropriate app (either First or Stagecoach).

The regular ticket range includes (with 1 day or 7 day versions of each):

  • Citywide – any bus or tram in Sheffield
  • SY Connect – any bus or tram in South Yorkshire
  • SY Connect+ – any bus, tram or train in South Yorkshire

plus the various single operator tickets.

Accommodation

From chain and boutique hotels, to small B&Bs and self catering accommodation, Sheffield has a range of accommodation which should suit all tastes and budgets.

Accommodation agency, Event Express, is working with CAMRA to provide discounted hotel accommodation exclusively for members coming to the Members’ Weekend, AGM and Conference on 16-18 April 2021 at the Sheffield City Hall.

Train and coach travel

By rail

Sheffield station is a combined railway station and tram stop. 

London St Pancras to Sheffield – takes on average 1 hour 40 minutes.

By booking rail tickets several weeks beforehand, you can make some significant savings.

If you’ve not already got a Railcard – there are many available offering up to 50% off travel – it’s worth investigating and you can ask at your local station which the best may be for you.

Other ways to save on rail fares include checking various routes or buying separate tickets for each section of your route (splitting your journey)  Ask at your local station or book direct through the train operator/s.
