CAMRA’s Golden Awards
CAMRA wants to recognise people, groups of people or businesses that have made a significant contribution to CAMRA’s aims, helping us get to where we are today.
This is aimed at our campaigning heroes, the pub/club all stars, beer saviours/custodians and stalwarts both in our midst, or those who are no longer with us.
We want to celebrate our successes. We are giving awards in 3 categories: Pubs, Pints, and People.

Bell Inn, Aldworth, Berkshire
A long-standing CAMRA national award-winning pub and CAMRA’s National Pub of the Year in 2020. One of the only pubs in Berkshire to boast a heritage pub interior. Its name refers to bells which were part of the coat of arms of the traditional landowners. The large open garden and excellent beer attract walkers and drinkers from far and wide
The Fat Cat, Norwich
A long-standing CAMRA national award-winning pub. The Fat Cat has won the CAMRA Norwich’s Pub of the Year award four times, and has been named National Pub of the Year award twice
The Queen’s Head, Newton
This Cambridgeshire pub has appeared in all 48 editions of the Good Beer Guide. The King and German Kaiser are reputed to have stopped here for a pint in the early 1900s
Red Lion, Preston
This attractive free house in Hertfordshire stands on the village green and is the first community-owned pub in Great Britain
Royal Oak, Ockbrook
This Derbyshire pub is a characterful old village pub, and has been rewarded for standing the test of time. It has also regularly appeared in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide, now in its 48th edition, and has consistently poured great pints
Buckingham Arms, Westminster
This London pub’s licence dates back to c1780. The Buckingham Arms has has appeared in every edition of the Good Beer Guide, now in its 48th edition
Leyton Orient Supporters Club, Leyton
This club, in east London, is a former CAMRA Club of the Year winner
Star Tavern, Belgravia
A Grade II listed pub in Central London, dating from 1848. The Star Tavern has appeared in every edition of the Good Beer Guide, now in its 48th edition
The Crown, Horwich
This Greater Manchester pub is a grand local landmark, and has been awarded a Golden Award for standing the test of time. It has regularly appeared in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide, now in its 48th edition, and has consistently poured great pints
The Berry, Walmer, Kent
A former Branch Pub of the Year and East Kent Cider Pub of the Year. It has been awarded a Golden Award for standing the test of time. It has regularly appeared in the Good Beer Guide, and has consistently poured great pints
Appleton Thorn Village Hall, Cheshire
CAMRA’s National Club of the Year winner in 2019, a club that has consistently poured great pints
Borough Arms, Crewe
A popular town pub in Cheshire with ten ever-changing real ales plus a very wide selection of Belgian beers on tap and in bottles
Roscoe Head, Liverpool
Now under the ownership of tenant Carol Ross, it is one of the five pubs that has been included in every edition of the Good Beer Guide, now in its 48th edition
The Steamboat, South Shields
The Steamboat is a pub full of character and atmosphere. It has been awarded a Golden Award for standing the test of time, and has regularly appeared in the Good Beer Guide, as well as consistently pouring great pints
The Weavers, Strathaven, Lanarkshire
A family run pub in the centre of the town, with links to the 19th century weaving industry. Recognised as a Golden Award winner for standing the test of time. The pub has regularly appeared in the Good Beer Guide, and has consistently poured great pints.
British Lion, Devizes
A free house with wooden floors, cosy settles and an eclectic group of talkative regulars; awarded for regularly appearing in the Good Beer Guide, and consistently pouring great pints
New Inn, Kilmington
A thatched Devon longhouse that became a pub in the early 1800s, the New Inn has appeared in 44 editions of the Good Beer Guide
Ye Olde Cider Bar, Newton Abbot
Based in Devon, this is one of the few remaining true Cider Houses in the country, and a past winner of CAMRA’s Cider Pub of the Year award
Barley Mow, Shepperton
The Barley Mow is a local CAMRA Pub of the Year winner. It has been awarded a Golden Award for standing the test of time; the pub has also regularly appeared in the Good Beer Guide, and has consistently poured great pints.
Hole in the Wall, Portsmouth
A wood-panelled gem in Hampshire that offers a wide range of beers from an ever-changing selection of local and national breweries
Prince of Wales, Farnborough
A Hampshire pub featured in the Good Beer Guide for over 30 years and has won the local Pub of the Year award multiple times
Square & Compass, Worth Matravers
An award-winning Dorset pub that features on CAMRA’s National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors and has appeared in every edition of the Guide
The Penrhyn Arms, Penrhynside
A welcoming free house just a mile from Llandudno’s seafront. The pub has been awarded for being a long-standing CAMRA national award-winning cider pub, and consistently pouring great pints.
The Lamplighter, St. Helier
The Lamplighter, on Jersey, is a very busy, popular town pub with the largest selection of real ales and ciders on the island. It is being recognised having regularly appeared in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide, and for consistently pouring great pints.
All Nations, Madeley, Telford
This past winner of the local CAMRA Pub of the Year Award has brewed its own beer since it was first licensed in 1832 and has appeared regularly in the Good Beer Guide
Crown Inn, Oakengates
18,000 different cask ales have been served at the Crown Inn over the past 25 years. This pub has regularly appeared in the Good Beer Guide, and consistently pours great pints
Griffin Inn, Shustoke
A Good Beer Guide regular featuring a stone bar and inglenook fireplaces
Sir Robert Peel, Tamworth
A busy town-centre free house with a large peaceful garden, the Sir Robert Peel has appeared in the Good Beer Guide for 18 consecutive years
Squirrel Inn, Rugby
A local CAMRA award-winning historic pub, that has appeared regularly in the Good Beer Guide
The Swan with Two Necks, Pendleton
An outstanding and recently renovated traditional pub set in a pretty Pendleside village. It is being recognised for being a long-standing CAMRA national award-winning pub, and consistently pouring great pints. The Swan with Two Necks won CAMRA’s National Pub of the Year award in 2014, and is popular with locals and visitors alike
